Collection: Mike Wall

My current body of work explores the gods of art alongside their muses, interwoven with the gods and goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology. The characters are often unexpected pairings; for example, Pablo Picasso may appear with Venus.

Stylistically, the painting brings together both ancient and modern traditions. It draws upon the flat, decorative qualities of ancient Greek art while incorporating elements of Cubism and Outsider Art. By combining these contrasting visual languages, the work creates a dialogue between the classical and the contemporary, mythology and art history, imagination and place.
